Although the situation varies between countries, and the underlying reasons for leaving differ from student to student, the process leading up to it has a number of common elements; personal or family problems, learning difficulties or fragile socio-economic situation.

Since the reasons are both complex and interconnected, policies that aim to reduce early school leaving must address a range of issues. There is a need for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies or integrated policies which includes evidence-based prevention, intervention and compensation measures.

Knowledge Platform Early School Leavers offers opportunities to share your own best practices, to learn from others and also to cooperate with other actors and projects in order to start new development processes and to have an impact on the national, regional and EU-level activities and policies.
